A Letter from Mr. Fuga to SHS:

Dear Southern High School Community,

I want to take this opportunity to thank students, faculty and families of the Southern High School community. You have all been my family for the past several years and I am so thankful for my time here at Southern. I am excited about my new position to serve as the principal at Rogers Herr Middle School and take my passion for education to a new environment. I am grateful for this new opportunity, but leaving Southern is bittersweet. I have cherished my time here and will really miss daily interactions with the students at Southern High School. Although I will not be in the building and see students every day, please know that I am always available to help in any way, as the Southern students will always have a special place in my heart.

I want to thank the faculty for helping me grow personally and professionally as a leader and colleague. The daily efforts and progress of the faculty make me proud of my time here. I leave Southern knowing that we worked every day with the benefit of the students and their families in mind.

I also want to let the administrative team at Southern know that I was blessed to work in partnership with leaders that share an unmatched passion and work ethic to help every child. I have spent so much time with Mr. Barnes, Ms. Stevens, Ms. Bullock and Ms. Massey over the last three and a half school years and I am a better professional and person because of it.

Thank you all for supporting me as I learned how powerful a school community can be when they work hard and take advantage of their time together. I am grateful for my time at Southern High School and will always remember our students and what we were able to accomplish together.

With all my heart and passion, in Educational Excellence,

Michael T. Fuga

A Student Letter of Appreciation from Anthony Peaks to Mr. Fuga:

Dear Mr. Fuga,

I will always remember you as a man of business and as the man who would never let me fail.    Mr. Fuga, you have always made an impact on me just by the way you take your job seriously.  You were a big role model in the four years that I have known you.  I will always miss that voice coming down the hall, “Anthony Peaks!"  I always knew what that meant.  Get to class.  I will also miss the great advice that would flow from your mouth to my ears.  My grandma always told me that I don’t listen, but talking to Mr. Fuga is different.  I always take in and digest what you tell me.  Mr. Fuga, you brought a lot of positivity to my life through any struggle so that I was always able to see the light.  Thank you for all you have done for me and congratulations on your new job as a principal.  I will never forget you or anything you have told me.  So again, I say thank you.

Sincerely , Anthony A. Peaks
