Not Just for the Birds...

Mr. Don Ramsey’s Construction Technology students manufactured 300 birdhouse kits this fall and for the second year in a row Ms. Brown’s Art students have turned many of them into beautiful works of art.  If you would like to buy a birdhouse please contact Mr. Bryson by calling the school and entering his extension (68275).  ALL proceeds go to benefit the Youth United Habitat house for 2009. Painted houses cost $30, unpainted houses cost $20.

Mrs. Thorpe's Transitions Class has been involved in community-based activities this year.  On Friday, April 25th, the Spartans ranked from 1st to 4th Place in various track and field events at the Special Olympics.

In the evening, students displayed their talents in the production, Voices Together in Education 2008.  The performance culminated in a music therapy partnership which focused on music, social skills, speech, and communication training.  This year's pilot program was funded by the North Carolina Arts Council, Durham Public Schools, and other corporate and foundation sponsors.

  Way to go, Spartans!
